Malaysia Airlines

Malaysia Airlines is one of the world's most established and reputable airlines. Currently, Malaysia Airlines will not accept pets in the cabin of any of their aircraft. However, they will accept pets in the cargo hold as special checked baggage, as long as all requirements for transport have been satisfied.

CARRIER SIZE Malaysia Airlines does not accept pets in the cabin of any of their aircraft. Carrier size will depend on the size of the animal.

Restrictions

  • Travelers are reminded that every country has different rules and regulations governing the acceptance and transportation of animals. It is strongly recommended that you contact the consulate, embassy, or government authority for any country (or countries) you will be visiting to ensure that you have met all entrance requirements.
  • Malaysia Airlines will not accept any brachycephalic (or "snub-nosed") dogs aboard their aircraft. For a list of breeds, please consult the company website or speak with a Customer Service agent.
  • Certain breeds of dogs (considered "fighting dogs") are banned from entering Malaysia. They include: Pit Bulls, Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Terriers, Akita, Dogo Argentino, Filo Brazillero, Mastiff, and Japanese Tosa. For a complete list please see the Malaysian Airlines website or contact a Customer Service representative.
  • All live animals must be transported as manifest cargo (freight), not as checked baggage to the following destinations: all Australian destinations, Auckland, London, Hong Kong, Bandar Seri Begawan, and Dubai.
  • Fees for carriage begin at a base rate of 5 kg (11 lbs). If your pet and carrier weigh less, a 5 kg charge will still be applied.
  • Malaysia Airlines encourages travelers to contact the local Veterinary Services office in both the departing country and the importing country to find out what the requirements are in terms of documents/health requirements for the export of live animals from the departing country and import of live animals into the importing country.

If your pet will be travelling unaccompanied or if you will be entering a country where animals must travel as manifest cargo (freight) MASkargo may be able to help. Codeshare flights

Pets may not be accepted on flights operated by codeshare partners. It is strongly recommended that you contact any codeshare partners or other airlines directly to familiarize yourself with their individual policies regarding pet travel.
