Alitalia is the main carrier of Italy and a proud member of the SkyTeam alliance. Currently, they serve over 90 destinations in some 40 countries. Thanks to an ambitious renewal plan which began in March of 2009, they also pride themselves on having one of the youngest fleets of any major airline anywhere in the world today.
Alitalia currently allows pets to travel in-cabin or as checked baggage in the cargo hold of the aircraft. Alitalia Cargo's Variation® Live program also offers many options for animals travelling unaccompanied.

If you are not able to travel with your pet you should contact Alitalia Cargo Services. As part of the SkyTeam family, they feature the Variation® Live program which was designed specifically to serve the needs of animals travelling unaccompanied.
Pets may not be accepted on interline flights or flights operated by codeshare partners. It is strongly recommended that you contact any codeshare partners or other airlines directly to familiarize yourself with their individual policies regarding pet travel.
