Ukraine International Airlines

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) is the country's flag carrier and the region's largest airline. From their central hub in Kiev they offer regular service to several major centers across Europe, the CIS, and Asia. Currently, their fleet consists of some 30 modern medium-haul aircraft which, along with the support of an impressive network of interline partners, boasts some 700 domestic and international flights per week.

UIA will accept small pets such as dogs, cats, birds and other small, warm-blooded animals (hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc) for in-cabin transport. Larger animals may be accepted as checked baggage, so long as all requirements are met. They remind passengers that pets and carriers are not included as part of the free baggage allowance. Fees are based on travel within the following three zones:

  • Zone 1 - All domestic flights within Ukraine.
  • Zone 2 - All international flights to Europe, Russia and other CIS countries, Asia, the Middle East.
  • Zone 3 - The rest of the world (except multi-segment routes which include transatlantic flights).

Restrictions

  • Travelers are reminded that every country has different rules and regulations governing the acceptance of animals. It is strongly recommended that you contact the consulate, embassy, or government authority for any country (or countries) you will be visiting to ensure that you have met all entrance requirements.
  • Space for pet travel is limited. Please call before you travel to ensure that your animal friend will be able to travel with you.
  • Domestic animals of unusual size and wild animals must be transported as cargo.
  • Transporting animals to the United Kingdom is possible as cargo in the baggage compartment only. Travelers are advised to familiarize themselves with any rules and restrictions that may apply.

Codeshare flights

Pets may not be accepted on flights operated by codeshare partners. It is strongly recommended that you contact any codeshare partners or other airlines directly to familiarize yourself with their individual policies regarding pet travel.
