AirTran is a very popular low-cost airway which is owned by Southwest Airlines. They fly to and from several major cities within the United States, as well as a number of locations in Mexico and the Caribbean.
AirTran will accept small dogs and cats for travel in the cabin of the aircraft only, and will accept a maximum of six pets per flight. If you will be travelling with your animal companion, you must contact the Reservations line in advance to ensure that there will be space on the flight for your furry friend.
AirTran reminds travelers that a pet carrier will count as either a carry-on bag or a personal item.

AirTran and its parent company, Southwest Airlines, do not allow pets to be transported as checked baggage or as cargo. If your pet will be travelling unaccompanied (or if your pet does not meet the requirements for in-cabin travel) you will likely need to make arrangements with another airline.
Pets may not be allowed on flights which include a transfer to a flight on Southwest Airlines. Please contact an AirTran agent for details. For flights on any other airline, it is strongly advised that you consult the airline you will be flying with directly to find out about their specific pet policies.
